While I would love to make money off the music that I create, currently my bread and butter as a musician comes from teaching piano lessons, accompanying, and playing jazz & pop standards and classical music at private functions. The MOST successful networkers I know do EXACTLY what you did---- listen first, ask yourself: How can I help and then just offer it. Very few people help anymore because we all get so overwhelmed with what WE want we forget how to support others in what it is they want. The smartest musicians I have ever met asked me simply - Is there anything I can do to help you? and 9 out of 10 times there actually is - and those simple offers make lifelong friendships that work both ways.
